Welcome to the commencement of the Waitlist Games.
Phase 1
Thursday at 8PM EST Phase 1 goes live. You got the extended briefing here. As a recap, here were some of the rules:
Phase 1
Once the UI goes live (Thurs. night EST) you can join the Waitlist, starting at #46 in line (45 have been whitelisted to the vault)
Waitlist is first-come-first-serve
We will intentionally leave open early spots in the Waitlist for community members showing strong merit
To enter the Waitlist, deposit the total amount you want allocated to the vault (Any deposit limits per round will be auto-applied. All excess capital will yield while waiting to be deployed into the vault.)
Make sure you deposit the correct amount! After you enter the Waitlist:
If you withdraw your deposit, you lose your spot in line
If you edit the amount you deposited, you lose your spot in line
If you trade with the marginfi account you create upon deposit, you lose your spot in line
Phase 1 is where you secure your starting spot on the Waitlist. Phase 2 is where you lock in victories from the Waitlist Games and advance (or retreat) in line. Phase 3 is where yield boosting strategies go live for Waitlisters. Phase 3 is when the black box goes live.
You’ve seen the rules, but now you’re wondering… “What about the games?” Let’s get into it.
Why The Games Matter
First, some details you first might need:
Phase 1 (upcoming) may last for as little as a week. That means Waitlisters could only have 7 days to complete the games and move up on the Waitlist. Regardless of the actual time frame, time itself will be limited.
Your spot on the Waitlist is important. The earlier you are, the more you compound in Phase 3. Here’s why:
As mentioned in previous articles, black box capacity will be initially capped at $2.5K per depositor. There are 45 whitelisted Vaulters who will be immediately accepted into the vault. After the first 45, we will go in order of the Waitlist — starting at #46 — with new Vaulters’ deposits also capped at $2.5K.
(Remember, all excess capital will earn yield. Many will be depositing much larger amounts than $2.5K. In Phase 3, excess capital will earn boosted yield. This yield could get really good for those waiting to enter the black box. Deposit caps to Vault entrants, per round. Each round will take from your total deposit. Deciding to deposit more later will lose your spot in line. Read more about Phase 1 here.)
This means the farther back in line you are, the more you wait while others yield. Don’t be that guy, Mark.
It compounds further.
When we reach the back of the line (we’ll set a cut-off period), we start Round 2 of acceptances. There will be multiple rounds of admittance to satisfy the excess demand from total deposits larger than $2.5K.
In Round 2, we start back at the beginning of the line, moving more capital from early vaulters’ deposits into the vault. We may also size up deposit limits when we do this.
As you can see, it quite literally pays to be early.
(We’re following a sequential process because that is more democratized than enabling first vaulters to put in their entire deposit amount before moving to the next person.)
The Waitlist Games
Without further ado, here are the Waitlist Games. This is just the start, more games may be added before Phase 2.
Virality:
Make a video about the black box that gets over 300 views and move up 5 spots
Make a viral tweet about the black box (over 120 likes, not botted) and move up 5 spots
Write an article about the vault that gets over 450 reads and move up 5 spots
Get an account with >100K followers to very publicly enter the vault and move up 10 spots
Partnerships:
Meaningfully integrate the vault into your project and move up 20 spots
Create an NFT drop in partnership with the vault and move up 25 spots
Misc:
Contribute to the marginfi protocol and move up 15 spots
Create a FE where ppl can lend/withdraw from marginfi’s borrow/lend pool and move up 20 spots
Referral:
$250+ → 1 spot
$1,000+ → 5 spots
$5,000+ → 30 spots
$10,000+ → 75 spots
$100,000+ → front of the line, king
Extra:
Submit a new game that gets accepted, move up 2 spots
Change your baby’s legal name to “Vault” and move up 10 spots
If you DM’d @mrgntrade during the ETH Merge MEV Vault drop, you move up 3 spots

Locking in Victories
In Phase 1, you secure your initial spot on the Waitlist (important). Then the Waitlist Games start. That is your time to earn victories and advance your positioning. Once Phase 2 goes live, you will be able to lock in your final Waitlist spot based on the victories you’ve claimed.
